SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh www.sos-bangladesh.org is a private, non-political and non-denominational child welfare organisation provides care for the children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and deprived of caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages International, the mother organisation of SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh is one of the largest private child welfare organisations presently working in 134 countries and territories around the world. In Bangladesh we have been working since 1972.
Applications are invited for the following position at National office, Dhaka:
Position: Assistant Director- Advocacy and Networking (One Position)
Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop recommendations for achieving Children’s rights improvements in the society through research of relevant advocacy targets, and prepare and implement advocacy strategies in consultation with the Management and with relevant external partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, representatives and other relevant sectors.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the implementation of national advocacy projects and related partnership activities in the country, as approved by the National Director and according to the advocacy priorities of the SOS Bangladesh
  • Monitor and analysis trends and developments of the national child care legislation and practice which might affect the work of the SOS Bangladesh, and suggest advocacy actions accordingly.
Essential Values, Behaviors and Skills:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in local language and English.
  • Good knowledge about child protection and child care system in the country and about main stakeholders in the country in the same field
  • High interpersonal communication, presentation, negotiations and motivating skills.
  • Team and task oriented for time bound deliverables
  • Good computer skills
  • Willing to travel as and when required
Qualification & Experience:
  • Masters or equivalent degree preferably in Social Science.
  • No 3rd Division/Class in any public Exam.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of working experience in relevant field in the social development sector or NGO or with an inter-governmental or a government organisation.
  • Clear understanding of child rights & child protection issues and also the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Children.
  • Experience in networking and building collaborations with government and counterpart organizations for cooperation and advocacy.
  • Knowledge of Development issues especially concerning children and child rights.
  • Good knowledge of UNCRC and socio-cultural systems.
