SOS Children’s Villages International, the mother organisation of SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh is one of the largest private child welfare organisations presently working in 134 countries and territories around the world. In Bangladesh we have been working since 1972. Applications are invited for the following position at National office, Dhaka
Position: Director- Programme (One Position)
Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:
Bridge between national office and regional office for successful implementation of function objectives.
Contributes to the development of an annual strategic plan of the function at national level.
Guides, motivates, supports and provides advice on Family Based Care and Family Strengthening Programmes and strives to achieve the set goals linked to the implementation of the strategic initiative.
As the national representative of the function, brings in local view while at the same time contributing to the regional projects in a balanced way.
Leads & develops programme team by providing coaching, motivation, training and skills development opportunities.
Regular identification of gaps and capacity building needs in programme functions and ensure required inputs from local resources and regional office.
Implementation of regional actions at national level by providing knowledge, support and monitoring inputs.
Designing of programmes based on need analysis and location requirements.
Assessment of programmes looking at socio-economic conditions, religions, culture etc.
Ensures a loving home and family for every child in target group i.e. through Care/ Health/ Education/ Capacity Building/ Advocacy.
Facilitate knowledge sharing leading to capacity building of care-givers and programme co-workers at national level.
Identification of best practices at national level and documentation of such practices.
Network with external partners for engagements in mutually beneficial programme support activities.

Good verbal and written communication skills in local language and English.
Good knowledge of Programme development strategies
High interpersonal skills and coordination skills
Team and task oriented for time bound deliverables
Good computer skills
Willing to travel as and when required
Qualification & Experience:
Masters or equivalent degree preferably in Social Science.
No 3rd Division/Class in any public Exam.
Should have minimum experience of 8-10 years or more with minimum experience of 2 years at the leadership position in the area of alternative family based care programmes for children without parental care.
Knowledge of program planning, execution, monitoring and its sustainability.
Analytical thinking and ability to use program data for program planning and implementation.
Experience of supervising and mentoring of team with effective performance management.
Experience in networking and building collaborations with government and counterpart organizations for cooperation and advocacy.
Knowledge of Development issues especially concerning children and child rights.
Good knowledge of UNCRC and socio-cultural systems.
