WildTeam WildTeam is a conservation organisation working to save endangered wildlife and their habitats, with a current focus on tigers in Bangladesh Sundarbans. WildTeam is a registered as a Bangladeshi non-profit organisation. WildTeam has been chosen as the lead partner for USAID’s Bengal Tiger Conservation Activity, which aims to conserve Bangladesh’s rich biodiversity through a focus on the protection of charismatic wildlife, specifically the Royal Bengal Tiger.
Job description WildTeam is looking to recruit a Law Enforcement Specialist for its USAID’s Bagh Activity to oversee the Patrolling Team and Law enforcement Monitoring Team of Anti Trafficking Action activities and ensure effective implementation of SMART patrolling and LEM interventions to combat wildlife crime in the Sundarbans. The post holder will be overall responsible for the following responsibilities:
Coordinate with Forest Department on SMART patrol monitoring strategy design, planning, implementation and monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
Oversee the training, field implementation and reporting of SMART patrolling in the Sundarbans
Liaison with Forest Department, relevant law enforcement agencies, community groups and organizations in regional and range level for effective implementation of the SMART patrolling
Coordinate facilitating technical support for FTRT and CPG patrolling strategy development, planning, training and implementation.
Law enforcement monitoring :
Coordinate law enforcement monitoring activity design, planning, implementation and progress monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
Oversee the preparation and dissemination of reports on law enforcement monitoring activities
Liaison with Forest Department, relevant law enforcement organizations for law enforcement monitoring interventions
Multi LEA coordination strategy design, planning, implementation and progress monitoring to achieve organisational/project goals
Prepare reports on multi LEAs coordination activities
Liaison with Forest Department and relevant LEAs to build and maintain relationship to ensure support for SMART patrolling and law enforcement monitoring activities of Bagh
Perform, and oversee direct reports to perform project management for activities within own workstreams according to the processes and tools described in the WildTeam project management manual
Perform, and oversee direct reports to perform operations management for operational work within own workstreams like procurement and financial reporting
Ensure smooth running of operational processes across operations and conservation programmes, identifying and fixing inefficiencies
Workstream/Team strategy development
Support in grant writing
Preferred attitude, skills, and experience The most important quality WildTeam is looking for in all its employees is a great attitude and “one team” approach; someone who is highly motivated to save wildlife, takes responsibility for their work, can solve complex problems, has a fearless attitude/is ready for a challenge, and enjoys working with/supporting others in sometimes challenging living/political conditions.
The applicant should have at least 12/14 years experience of working with law enforcement agencies. Retired high officials from defence background are highly encouraged to apply for this position. Having experience with project management position and mobilizing patrolling groups will be beneficial. In addition, for this position WildTeam is looking for the following: a bachelor degree from any relevant discipline, a people person, high proficiency in written and spoken English, analytical skills and attention to detail, and someone who is comfortable with technology.
