Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is an international development organization with a vision to create a world without poverty in which people work together to fulfill their potential. VSO links national and international volunteers in development initiatives. VSO enables men and women to work alongside people in poorer countries in order to share skills, build capabilities and promote international understanding and action, in pursuit of a more equitable world.
VSO Bangladesh (VSOB) is implementing International Citizen Service (ICS) project from 2011. ICS project brings together young people as international and national volunteers to make a difference in some of the poorest communities of Bangladesh. The project aims to create positive changes in rural areas by building personal development of youth and promote them as promote them as active citizens. VSOB is recruiting numbers of National Volunteers for the next cycle of ICS Project. Title: National Volunteers Duration: For the period September 10, 2015 to December 30, 2015. Placement: Anywhere among Bagerhat and Rangpur. Facilities: VSOB will take responsibility for Volunteers accommodation, food, medical, transport and nominal allowance for that period of time. Main Responsibilities:
Share cross cultural experiences with International Volunteer coming from the UK
Work very closely with International Volunteers (coming from the UK) to plan, implement, and evaluate youth action projects in the community.
Support conducting field research, needs assessment/social mapping, project design, project planning, organizing event and Community Action Day, monitoring, case study collection, report writing, documentation and evaluation of project.
The candidate be within the age limit of 21 to 28 years
Educational background from business management/financial management, marketing, fashion designing or similar subject will be preferred. Students can also apply.
Must be willing to stay in selected region of Bangladesh for 12 weeks without any break/interruption.
A clear interest in community development and proactive towards development of marginalized people.
Committed and proactive to work well in a diverse, multi-cultural team.
Interested in sharing cross-cultural experience with UK volunteers and other counterparts
Habituated/interested to reside in remote villages with simple accommodation, food and with other facilities.
Be committed to share experiences with team members and be proactive for carrying out actions in respective local community after completion of the project.
Minimum experience on enterprise development is highly appreciable.
Average communication skill in English
