Key Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Development Communications Specialist, AAS program, the incumbent will be responsible for the following responsibilities: 1. Ensure that the hub program-of-work is run as action research
Be one of the key members of field based research team on doing research, documentation, dissemination and data management of PAR
Develop, manage and implement an M&E-for-learning system for the hub program-of-work.
Identify capacity-building needs for M&E, action research and coordinate capacity building activities.
Set up and implement an information management system, according to AAS standards, that documents and captures hub program-of-work processes and progress.
Facilitate spaces for collaborative reflection and learning as part of action research.
2. Foster practices and culture of knowledge sharing and learning among hub staff and partners
Identify capacity-building needs for knowledge sharing and learning and coordinate capacity-building activities.
Provide technical and facilitation support for hub staff and partners on as-needed basis.
Play an integral role in the KSL platform, particularly in tying the science and learning from the PARs.
3. Contribute to Theme 6 research deliverables
Process the hub action research findings to allow cross hub comparisons and analysis as to how context influences what works and what doesn’t.
Facilitate research around the overarching research questions of the CRP
Participate in cross-hub synthesis and analysis.
Contribute to research deliverables.
Produce reports and other research outputs.
4. Support country and global AAS Communications Strategy
Facilitate the collection of material for communicating about AAS from the hub and hub stakeholders
Disseminate information regarding AAS to hub and stakeholders
Support the production of communications outputs in coordination with the country and global AAS communications staff
5. Participate as a core member of the AAS Knowledge Management Community of Practice
Share good practice with others in the COP
Provide mentoring and coaching where appropriate
Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and learning through his or her own actions.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in innovative programs supporting the empowerment of women in rural development, agriculture development, participatory learning and planning processes and group/community management
Familiarity with research, comprehensive knowledge of pro-poor development, agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, poverty, gender, risks in the Bangladesh context with relation to implementation would be an advantage
Experience in doing action research and/or practical experience in KM
Familiarity with a wide variety of communications vehicles
Experience with data and information management systems.
Good understanding and awareness of issues relating to access and use of information in participatory research and development
Knowledge of the hub area and experience working in the country/hub
Practical experience with network mapping.
Qualifications and Experiences:
Masters in related field; e.g. Development Studies/ Anthropology/ Natural Resource Management/ Human Geography/ Human Ecology/ Sociology/ Life Science, Statistics etc.)
Minimum 5 years work experience in participatory research or development initiatives. Excellent academic record may be relaxed for less experienced candidates.
