ACDI/VOCA, a leading international development organization, based in Washington, D.C., is currently implementing a $6 million, five-year program entitled “Feed the Future Bangladesh Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition Project” funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Through the Feed the Future Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition project, USAID/Bangladesh seeks to impact rural household nutrition by improving the utilization of livestock products, and Food Security. Feed the Future Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition aims to increase livestock productivity through increased access to better livestock management techniques and primary animal health care services, improve access of rural households to hygienic, diverse, and quality food in order to enhance nutrition and health status, especially of women and children. Position Summary:
The Field Coordinators will support the Livestock Management and Fodder Production Advisor and/or Team Leader, Food Science in all aspects of program management related to support of technical activities across all components. S/he will work with the senior management team, STTA, volunteers, as well as BRAC and Borlaug Institute resources to provide continuing field-based support to technical implementation. The Field Coordinator is the primary point of contact for ACDI/VOCA at the upazila level. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Representation:
Act as the Primary Point of Contact at the upazila level for collaboration/coordination/reporting of project activities.
Act as the Primary Point of Contact at the upazila level for any field visits by project staff, donors, and other development organizations interested to visit any project activities in the upazila.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key government stakeholder representatives at the upazila, including but not restricted to: Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Upazila Chairman, Upazila Technical Officers, and Ministry of Local Government (Local Government Division); Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Ministry of Water Resources.
Cultivate relationships with implementing agents of other key developmental programs related to project strategic objectives, to identify points of synergies for technical support and leverage points to maximize household level impacts, particularly with other USAID Feed the Future Programs being implemented in the upazila.
Capacity Building of PNGOs:
Assist in planning, designing and conducting training needs assessments of local partner for capacity development. Support quality implementation of TOT/training/workshop/ meeting and social mobilization activities through providing technical advice.
Act as a key coordinator with technical specialists, GoB specialists, and private sector specialists
Review data entered and summary reports prepared by upazila PNGO, and advise M&E Unit on any possible discrepancies that need to be corrected.
Meet with grantee to sign Grant Agreement and to explain the grant.
Invite social elites/ GoB in the grants distribution program.
Participate in meetings, trainings, seminars, and workshops
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Working Conditions: The position is based in the Khulna office with more than 75% time spent in the field and around the assigned Upazila/union. Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years experience in the in agricultural sectors, preferably in livestock development or nutrition/food science
Bachelors degree in an agricultural field
Effective record of building relationships with governmental organizations as well as private and community organizations is required
Established track record of achieving results within difficult working environments is required
Strong ability in problem solving and decision making.
Excellent in resource and people management.
Excellent coordination and training skills.
Appropriate professional skills on communication both in Bangla and English.
Appropriate computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must have a valid motorcycle driver’s license.
Preference will be given to applicants having working experience with International NGOs in Khulna, Satkira, Faridpur, Jessore, and/or Narail.
