GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.
Deputy Project Manager, Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition Portfolio
The Deputy Manager will co-lead a portfolio team to drive the portfolio in collaboration with the Senior Advisor and Manager, Micronutrient Supplements and work closely with relevant directorates of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW), implementing partners and, creative organizations working on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and relevant civil society organizations to achieve impact at scale through home fortification practice as part of the promotion of optimal IYCN.
This will include supporting the Senior Advisor and Manager in accelerating growth in micronutrient powder (MNP) and other nutritional products coverage through improved products, delivery channels, compliance and leading education, demand creation and community level behaviour change regarding MIYCN to impacts. Responsibilities Portfolio Management
Reporting to Senior Advisor and Manager, Micronutrient Supplements, s/he will work also with the Country Manager, Initiative Director and Portfolio Management and Delivery team on program strategy, communications and implementation of all portfolio components including effective performance management of sub-contractors and technical consultants.
Accountable for playing leadership role of the Bangladesh MIYCN Home Fortification along with Senior Advisor and Manager, MS with primary portfolio management, reporting technical and financial documentation responsibilities for all GAIN, donor and Government of Bangladesh requirements.
Ensures timely drafting and execution of partnership agreements with implementing partners and key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Responsible for timely convening, facilitation and associated documentation of portfolio based on KPIs of the portfolio.
Ensures timely flow of portfolio-related information between portfolio partners, Senior Advisor and Manager, Micronutrient Supplements, Country Manager and Program Delivery and MIYCN Director as is relevant to successful portfolio implementation and the good standing of GAIN’s brand and Country Office.
Collaborates with Monitoring, Learning and Research (MLR) team to develop a framework to closely monitor program impact and oversee the successful implementation of the research to populate the learning agenda.
Responsible for timely negotiation and contract renewal with implementation agencies.
Responsible for drafting program progress reports, quarterly budget and accurate, timely management of the funds, with support from the MIYCN Team and Geneva Team.
Visits the field regularly to ensure that portfolio progress is on track and risk mitigation plan is up to date.
Keep portfolio information updated in GAIN’s customized Portfolio Management Information System (PMIS).
Policy and Advocacy
Collaborates with the Policy & Advocacy (P&A) Associate and the Country Manager to develop key government partnerships and facilitate key stakeholder alignment.
Ensures the timely drafting and execution of partnership agreements with Directorates of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and key civil society organizations to build an enabling policy and legislative environment.
Contributes to the development of the knowledge base on GAIN’s portfolio, including the gathering of national and regional trends in IYCN policies as they relate to nutrition.
Demand Creation and Delivery
With support from GAIN HQ Communications and MIYCN teams, facilitates the development of communication materials, social marketing activities and communication campaigns in collaboration with partners to drive product compliance.
In collaboration with partners, facilitates formative research and market studies to understand key behaviours and product demand.
In close collaboration with partners, builds the capacity of stakeholders and health volunteers on sales, distribution, knowledge and compliance of products. Ensures development of robust, content driven training program.
Ensure stakeholder alignment of communication materials with portfolio priorities.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a management position, including five years in a senior management position.
Demonstrated success in building and managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging program environments.
Track record of capacity building of partners and within own organisation Experience of change management and organisational development highly desirable.
Experiences of writing new grants for diversified donor with innovation solutions to replicate MIYCN at scale.
Strong understanding of integrated nutrition programming within development.
Experience of delivering high quality integrated nutrition program at scale.
Experience in a global, multicultural organization with international experience highly desirable.
Experience working in a public/private partnership environment highly desirable.
Private sector experience highly desirable.

Ability to represent portfolio and organisation externally.
Computer literacy with good Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point skills.
A Master’s Degree in health, nutrition, food science international development, or a suitable equivalent is required.
Diploma or equivalent certification in portfolio management highly desirable.
Fluent written and verbal English and a good command of Bengali languages.
A willingness and ability to travel in remote locations to assess the performance of the partners against deliverables.
