The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.
Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Program Associate
Reporting to the Senior Advisor and Project Manager, Micronutrient Supplements the Program Associate, SBBC shall provide technical support as well as oversee the Executing Agencies (EA) during the implementation of the SBCC intervention component of this project in 164 sub districts (Upazillas) and 4 urban slums.
S/he will ensure that the interventions are coordinated and so that overall project milestones and goals are met. The role will include working with the project partners, all levels of government, civil society, private sector and academia to facilitate a supportive stakeholder and policy environment in parallel to implementation.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
  • Oversight responsibility for the community mobilization interventions of the EA during the scale up phase, to ensure we reach the project goal.
  • Oversee the implementation and coordination of all the different BC interventions in the MIYCN project.
  • Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary program planning, budgeting, resource availability and that management activities function smoothly and efficiently.
Strategy and relationship building
  • Collaborate with international behaviour change experts, a local creative agency, key implementers and the larger GAIN team to translate the maternal formative research into messages and community level interventions in alignment with the larger SBCC campaign
  • Providing insight in the final design of SBCC scale-up on the basis of the evaluation of the previous BC pilot in target sub-districts
  • Overseeing the production and testing creative materials to ensure alignment with findings from formative research and key principles for the SBCC campaign.
  • Engaging with and build strong and effective partnerships with key stakeholders at all levels, from national to community level.
Reporting
  • Check and verify the progress reports submitted by the EA’s for accuracy and also for timely reporting to the Line Manager.
  • Responsible for documenting experiences, preparing reports, presentations, briefs and articles for publication.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in behaviour change communication including at least 3 years designing and / or implementing community level behaviour change interventions.
  • Experience of being involved in creating social movements or changing social norms is highly desirable.
  • Experience in implementing results‐oriented behaviour change programs, preferably in partnership with multiple program partners.
  • Experience in public health and/or nutrition is highly desirable but not essential.
Skills & Attributes
  • Demonstrated expertise in SBCC principles and practices.
  • Strong experience in community level project implementation and management, preferably for SBCC programs.
  • Analytical, with the ability to effectively liaise with creative and research agencies and government offices.
  • A dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proactive with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure with frequent deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, cross functional team with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Education
  • Professional university degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent combination of education and behaviour change implementation work experience.
Other Requirements
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bangla.
  • Bangladeshi citizen preferred.
